I traveled to Thailand at the start of my three-month trip in South and Southeast Asia. Anticipating a rigorous journey later on my trip, I wasn’t up for a busy itinerary just yet. The thought of exploring the general vicinity of Bangkok at a leisurely pace before throwing myself into the chaos of India seemed very comforting.

I had been to Thailand multiple times already and always put off visiting Ayutthaya. This trip was my chance to finally visit this former Siamese capital. While it was possible to go there on a day trip from Bangkok, I ended up spending six days in Ayutthaya. Each day, I would rent a bicycle from my hostel and pedal my way around the city center of Ayutthaya. I even had enough time to visit far-off temples on the outskirts of the city.

Of course, a trip to Thailand wouldn’t be complete without indulging in delicious Thai food. So, I made sure to get my fill as much as I could.

I went back to Bangkok three days before my onward flight to Kolkata. It was already my third time to visit Bangkok and, like my previous trips, I didn’t get to exhaust all the touristy attractions of the city.

I did get to visit a lot of shopping malls, the Chinatown area, and experienced an awesome sunset overlooking the city skyline on my last day in Bangkok.
