HomeAsiaSouth East AsiaCambodia2 Days Kratie Itinerary — Stopover from Pakse to Phnom Penh By Marcos Detourist on September 15, 2012 Two days exploring the town of Kratie on a long land journey from Pakse in Southern Laos to Phnom Pehn, capital city of Cambodia. After crossing the Lao-Cambodian border at Veun Kham/Dom Kralor, I got on a local bus on the Cambodian side. The bus supposedly went all the way to Phnom Pehn but I decided to drop off a third of the way, at the peaceful riverside town of Kratie.I stayed one night in Kratie so I can see a bit of the Northern Cambodian countryside before heading to Phnom Pehn. I was hoping I could join a boat tour to see Irrawaddy dolphins at the Mekong River. Unfortunately, I woke up too late the next day and had to skip the touristy dolphin tour.On my way to Phnom Pehn, I made quick side trips to Chlong and Kampong Cham, which were located along the highway. Nothing major to see but stopping by did make the long travel to the capital somewhat eventful.Itinerary RundownDestinationsDetailsPrevious Champasak Province, LaosDay 1Kratie Pakse to Veun Kham Van Laos to Cambodia Border Crossing Dom Kralor to Kratie Bus Kratie Hostel Search Around Kratie by BicycleDay 2Kratie, Phnom Penh Kratie to Chlong Van Around Chlong Chlong to Kampong Cham Van Around Kampong Cham Kampong Cham to Phnom Penh VanNext Phnom PenhTop Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand IndochinaTravel date — 2012Don’t leave yet.
