HomeAsiaPhilippinesLuzonLa UnionA night at Kahuna Beach Resort and Spa in San Juan, La Union By Marcos Detourist on July 28, 2012We stayed at Kahuna Beach Resort and Spa during our visit to La Union province. Kahuna Beach Resort and Spa was a Balinese-inspired resort located right along the beachfront of San Juan, a famous surf spot in the Philippines. San Juan Beach attracts a lot of beach goers and would-be surfers because of its easy accessibility, 5-6 hours land trip, from Manila.San Juan is the next town north of La Union capital, San Fernando. The scenery wasn’t as amazing compared to Siargao or Pagudpud yet it wasn’t too bad also. There was the great view of the expansive West Philippine Sea … yes, it’s territoriality the Philippines’ :) and the beach is clean and wide, though not white sand.Beachfront and pool area of Kahuna Beach Resort and SpaNight at the PoolTook a long night swim at the pool shortly after we arrived at Kahuna. Floating in the calm water, hearing the gush of waves as if it were coming right at me, looking up at the starts … it was so relaxing. At one point I went into a meditative state recounting my backpacking stints and all the not-very-glamorous experiences that come with budget travel.I was happy I got to indulge this time and I made sure I savored every moment of it … especially because I was traveling with so many interesting people. Most of the night was spent chatting about our travels, “real” life, life on the road, and other matters. While relaxing at the poolside of Kahuna Beach Resort and Spa Balinese-inspired Garden RoomsI shared the garden room at Kahuna with two other Lakbay Norte bus mates. Our room was a couple of steps away from the poolside. Kahuna also had bigger rooms and suites with a scenic view of the ocean built right beside the pool. Garden view outside our room Pardon the mess in the room. This is what our room looked like just before we left.Surf’s up! but not for usWoke up to a beautiful sunny morning at San Juan, La Union. I felt so refreshed. The surf looked really inviting but we still had other activities planned that day … besides, we already tried surfing, a few days earlier, in Pagudpud.Poolside view of Kahuna Beach Resort under daylightNext up was a long bus ride up the mountains of the Cordilleras and lunch at a newly opened tapas bar in the City of Pines.Kahuna Beach Resort & Spa http://www.kahunaresort.com/ National Highway Brgy. Great information! Kahuna Beach resort is pretty much the most expensive one in La Union. We normally stay in Little Surfmaid.BTW, I was wondering where did you get that app/plugin that shows all your travels? We love going around also, but we are not even close to how far you have gone. Marcos saysAugust 19, 2012 at 7:43 pmDidn’t know that Ray. It was certainly a change to stay at a place that was not the cheapest one around, hehe :D James Agapito saysNovember 19, 2012 at 5:49 pmSweet Vacation :) Lee saysFebruary 6, 2013 at 11:11 amGreat article!
