is considered as the cultural and religious capital of Northern Thailand. There are more than 300 temples in Chiang Mai and its outskirts. Many of these temples are of exceptional historical and architectural value and within easy walking distance from each other.

Buddhist temples in Chiang Mai exhibit a mixture of Lanna Thai, Burmese, Mon, and Sri Lankan architectural styles that reflect the varied heritage of Northern Thailand.

Visitors must show respect by wearing appropriate clothing. You must take off your shoes before entering the temple or other buildings, but they may be worn in the courtyard. Taking photographs of Buddha images is no problem, but it is polite to ask before taking pictures of monks or locals.

Most temples do not charge admission fees for foreign tourists. A few of the major temples like Wat Doi Suthep charge a minimal admission fee.
