P225 total. After paying the ticket, two people sitting on a bench nearby asked for a payment of P5. I assumed it was the terminal fee. So, I didn’t bother much about it and started walking towards the pre-departure building (approx. 500m from the ticketing area). Then, it dawned on me that I might have paid for unnecessary “insurance coverage” by dubious private companies, commonplace in one particular seaport (Roxas Port in Oriental Mindoro). Inspected the washed out print on the stamp-sized paper stapled on my ticket and saw it had the seal of “Municipality of Tubigon, Province of Bohol.” Asked the port (PPA) officials about it and they only know of it as the “municipal fee.” Whatever the reason for this municipal fee, I’m still unsure. Day 5Transport: Bohol to Cebu via Tubigon Port 12:00mn – Departure from Tubigon Port, Tubigon, Bohol Tubigon to Cebu RORO ferry ride (2 hours) Paid P200 for a “sit down” admission on the boat. If I had paid a measly +P20 more, I could have gotten bunk bed instead. The beds are very narrow with a thin mattress but it was a hell of a lot better than trying to sleep in a shared wooden bench. Since I was looking forward to getting some sleep on the boat, I scouted the ferry and claimed a whole bench for myself :) 2:00am – Arrival at Pier 1, Cebu City. Slept on the boat until 5:00am. The ferry docks at the pier until its next departure back to Tubigon (probably late in the afternoon or early evening). Decided to wait until 5am so I can commute to the airport rather than opt for the more expensive taxi and wait for hours at the airport. 5:00am – Breakfast at carinderia (local eatery) outside of Pier 1. Shellfish + Egg + Rice – P40 Walk to intersection where the Plaza Independencia meets the vehicular tunnel (2 blocks away from Pier 1.Transport: Cebu City Proper to Cebu Airport commute Ride “Ibabao / Mandaue” jeep to the San Miguel (Corp. Brewery) “planta” in Mandaue – P8 Ask locals where the jeepneys headed to Lapu-Lapu City can be found. Walk towards “Park Mall”. Ride “Punta Engano / Lapu-Lapu City (LLC) / MEPZ” jeep to “Marina Mall” in Lapu-Lapu City – P9 Walk to Island Souvenirs store (multicabs to the Mactan Cebu International Airport are parked outside) Ride yellow multicab to Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) – P8Don’t leave yet.
