Bacolod City, Negros Occidental Trip – June 2009

I was supposed to go to Baras Beach Resort in Guimaras for the weekend with my friend and her classmates. Me and my friend were already prepared to go on with the trip, we’ve already packed our bags and met in the city. Unfortunately, her classmates bailed out on the plan because it was raining and opted to watch a movie instead. We were quite upset about that because the trip was already planned weeks before and the rain wasn’t strong enough to be worried about, there were also no reported storms coming. Wanting to go on with any trip, we decided to go backpacking to Bacolod City instead.

Three Years Internet Subscription with SmartBro

It’s been almost three years actually that I’ve used SmartBro as my internet provider. I pay P999 every month for my unlimited internet at 384kps, which is actually a bit lame and more pricey compared to internet access in other countries. I’ve hang on with them for so long because their line is, I think, the most reliable IP in Iloilo City. My friends have had experiences with Bayantel, PLDT myDSL, and Globelines, and they said their internet access have hiccups from time to time.

Increase Your Blogging Productivity through Mind Mapping

I’ve recently discovered a great tool to easily manage my growing number of blogs by downloading programs based on a simple concept called Mind Mapping. Mind Mapping is basically a term for “listing down your ideas”. The term was quite daunting at first because Mind Mapping seems like one of those complicated techniques that an obsessive compulsive person might use. I later realized that it’s awesome and has actually simplified the way I run my blogs and has made my work a lot faster.

Makati City – the Philippine’s Skyscrapercity

Back when I was in high school, I was a Sim City 4 addict. I used to spend my nights slaving over making the biggest city my measly computer can handle. There was of course the attempt of making a city that had a road layout of Iloilo City, at the time high quality road maps of Iloilo City was not available (Google Earth, I think wasn’t released yet or it didn’t have hi-res images of Iloilo City) so I started to look for road maps of other cities in the Philippines. One google search led to another and I ended up in Skyscrapercity.com. I visited the Philippine sub forum and searched through the threads.

If you have time, you’re all invited to see a gallery exhibit by a couple of Ilonggo photographers in Red Steakhouse & Gallery. Spectrum Iloilo will run from May 27 to June 28, 2009. I’ll be posting 3 of my works, I think this is my first photo exhibit, ehh … I was apprehensive at first because I’ll have my stuff posted side by side with other more established photographers in Iloilo and my photos aren’t exactly as remarkable as theirs. My usual subjects are landscapes, not conceptual artsy stuff so I was thinking that my works would pale in comparison and I would spontaneously melt or combust. I agreed to join after discovering that I humans spontaneously melting or combusting might not be a possibility.

Launched Everything Boracay – Your Local Guide to Boracay

My postings here and Explore Iloilo have been sparse lately. I’ve been busy developing a new website called Everything Boracay (http://www.everythingboracay.com), which was made to help people plan their trip to Boracay. Visitors can find general information about Boracay, insider travel tips and guides, view a list of where to stay in Boracay, and even make online bookings through partner travel sites.

The Zest Air Experience, My ZestAir Review

3485784615 a3d5ecbb58 The Zest Air Experience, My ZestAir Review
ZestAir is a relatively new airline in the Philippines servicing flights to many destinations in the country. They offer lower rates than their competitors and are using brand new planes (though others air saying that it’s actually just newly acquired from a foreign airline). Because of this a lot of people are interested to fly with ZestAir but are a bit skeptical about it because of its acquired reputation from Asian Spirit. Hopefully, my experience flying with ZestAir can help would-be zest air passengers, who’ll read this post. Read the rest of this entry »

Enchanted Carles for the First Time

It was the start of summer and I was dying to set forth on another ultimate adventure, just as I did last year when I visited Caluya Islands in Antique. While I was on my usual rounds of the city, my friend Tara (an excellent  photographer I look up to) texted me and invited me to go on a 3 day trip to Isla Gigantes Sur (South Gigantes Island) in Carles, a coastal town in the northern tip of Iloilo. My fingers then took control of my phone and tada! I was booked on yet another summer escapade. The timing was a bit horrible. The day before the trip, My oathtaking (for new nurses) was scheduled  in the afternoon and I had made plans of shooting for a client later that night. I didn’t sleep the whole night for the exhausting photoshoot and editing of photos to be submitted ASAP. It was 4am when I finished the job and rushed to our meeting place in Tagbak Terminal in Jaro.
