Hong Kong and Macau Tour – My first trip abroad

Last month, the day after attending the Philippine Blog Awards, me and my siblings (four of us) travelled to Hong Kong and Macau for 3 days and 2 nights. It was our first trip abroad and it took months of planning because we wanted to personalize our itinerary and did not want to be part of a constrictive tour group. Planning for the trip was quite easy because there are a lot of information available online about Hong Kong and Macau but we just wanted it to be flawless and cram as much sights during our short visit. We actually flew in to Hong Kong and stayed there for two days, visited Macau on the third day, and then flew back to Manila via Macau later that day.

We originally just planned to visit Hong Kong for our trip but Macau was too tempting to pass off. It’s just one hour away by ferry … much like crossing the strait from Iloilo to Bacolod, *heh*. I was the one who convinced them to include Macau in the trip given that I was responsible for planning the Macau leg of our itinerary.

Bacolod City, Negros Occidental Trip – June 2009

I was supposed to go to Baras Beach Resort in Guimaras for the weekend with my friend and her classmates. Me and my friend were already prepared to go on with the trip, we’ve already packed our bags and met in the city. Unfortunately, her classmates bailed out on the plan because it was raining and opted to watch a movie instead. We were quite upset about that because the trip was already planned weeks before and the rain wasn’t strong enough to be worried about, there were also no reported storms coming. Wanting to go on with any trip, we decided to go backpacking to Bacolod City instead.

Calea | Panaad 2008 | April 2008

It has been barely a month and I’m back in Bacolod, I just can’t get enough of the place. This time, I was with Enrico D. of Byahilo.com, Kyle and Ph_Man from Skyscrapercity.com, and Edsil, a friend of Eric. We went to Bacolod primarily for the Panaad 2008 but our plans were a bit modified due to some unfortunate events. After a few hours of our arrival, we had lunch in a Chinese restaurant beside L’ Fisher Hotel and had dessert in Calea.

West-central Negros Road Trip – First time in Kabankalan | April 2008

Just after my Bucari trip, a few hours actually, I’m out on another trip and this time my destination is Bacolod City. My family and other relatives at my father’s side had a reunion and we stayed at my Lola’s house in Bata.

Last time I was in Negros was on September 2007 for an organizational study of Riverside Hospital with side-trip to Patag in Silay. I knew of some new developments in Bacolod and had the chance to see them myself.

Bucari, Leon – My first taste of Linagpang | April 2008

Bucari, located in the mountains of Leon, is a summer paradise 3 hours away from Iloilo City. Bucari greatly resembles destinations in Northern Philippines like Baguio and Banaue because of its cool climate and highland attractions such as springs, waterfalls, pine trees, rice terraces, wild flowers, high-value crops, and a breathtaking view of the verdant mountains.

Planning for trips on September

These past few weeks, life has been quite busy especially due to school. My viewers at exploreiloilo.com surely have noticed that I haven’t updated it for a long time already. Well, things are going to change come September. My “school schedule” will start clearing up since our clinical duty would already be finished for the semester. Thank goodness for that!

By then, I’d have more time to go around Iloilo and collect more content for my posts. I’d also have more time to visit other places besides my hometown. In fact, as a requirement for our Management Class, we (me and my groupmates) will be visiting Bacolod to make an organizational study on the Regional Hospital there (named Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital). I’ll probably be staying in Bacolod on September 2 – 4 (even longer if time permits).

I’m no stranger to Bacolod. When I was too young to go to school, I spent my childhood there with my lolo, lola, and other relatives. My last visit to Bacolod was April of this year, just in time for the Panaad Festival. I was actually more interested to visit the newly opened SM City Bacolod. I have already been to the Panaad Festival before. My trip was fun but medyo bitin because I only spent one night there.

This time, we are planning to spend 3 days in Bacolod. It’ll be a new experience for me because I’ll be staying at my friend’s house and I’ll visit more of Bacolod’s hangout places aside from the usual tourist destinations. I’ve already fulfilled some of my “TO DOs” in Bacolod like:

  • Eat at Calea (the blueberry cheese cake, as eric recommended, was just heavenly)
  • Go to the top floor of Bacolod’s tallest building (PNB)
  • Visit SM City Bacolod

But there’s still more unchecked in my list like:

  • Nightout in Goldenfield Complex
  • Eat at Cafe Bobs

I have to think of more things to do so my visit will be more worthwhile. If someone out there knows of things I can add to the list, by all means do so!

After the Bacolod trip, I might be hitching a ride on another group in our section, who are planning to go to Aklan … BORACAY, here I come! I’ll post more about that later, hehe.
