Still Wandering in October

As mentioned earlier, I’ve been AFK (away from keyboard) for a while now. It’s still a busy month of traveling for me. Since I started blogging, it has always been my goal to live the lifestyle of other travel bloggers. To be able to travel extensively and frequently for longer periods of time. If feel really lucky that I’m already starting to live that kind of life and thankful to everyone who continues to visit my blogs and leave comments, which fuels my passion to continue blogging. Here’s a quick rundown of places I’ve traveled to since my last post.

Taken at Kuala Lumpur International Airport just before the return flight from our Singapore – Malaysia trip at the end of September. It took multiple shots … but I still couldn’t keep my eyes open for the shot since I was already so tired.

Year-end Trip to Bacolod City, Negros Occidental

I never expected to be visiting Bacolod City so frequently last year since most of my trips were unplanned decisions. Just before the year ended, an unfortunate circumstance hit our family (father’s side). We had to go to Bacolod to attend our Granpa’s funeral.

When we arrived in Muelle Loney (Downtown, Iloilo City), jump off point of Iloilo-Bacolod fastcrafts, we learned that the boat was going to arrive 1 hour late. While waiting, we decided to have a quick snack in Roberto’s, which is just a block away from Muelle Loney. I was so happy to discover that they were serving their signature Queen Siopao that day. The Queen Siopao is a larger than usual siopao with bacon, Chinese sausage, chicken pork adobo and egg and is served at only select days for the month.

My Photos in iTravel Mag Bacolod Feature

Two of my pictures taken during recent visits to Bacolod City, Negros Occidental were published in the iTravel Philippines Magazine’s Bacolod City feature  by Mr. Bombette G. Marin. The pictures were of the Lacson Mansion Ruins in Talisay City and the San Sebastian Church in Bacolod City. I’m very happy that my photos are circulating outside my blogs with permission and proper credits this time.

Bacolod City, Negros Occidental Trip – June 2009

I was supposed to go to Baras Beach Resort in Guimaras for the weekend with my friend and her classmates. Me and my friend were already prepared to go on with the trip, we’ve already packed our bags and met in the city. Unfortunately, her classmates bailed out on the plan because it was raining and opted to watch a movie instead. We were quite upset about that because the trip was already planned weeks before and the rain wasn’t strong enough to be worried about, there were also no reported storms coming. Wanting to go on with any trip, we decided to go backpacking to Bacolod City instead.

Silay City Heritage Tour | April 2008

During the late 1800s to early 1900s, the booming sugar industry in Iloilo paved the way for the migration of affluent families to Negros. These families turned vast idle lands in Negros into Sugar Cane Plantations and Haciendas. Eventually, an international port was opened in Silay City, which became the center of commerce in Negros.

To date, many old buildings still remain intact including a grand church, several commercial, and residential buildings.

Calea | Panaad 2008 | April 2008

It has been barely a month and I’m back in Bacolod, I just can’t get enough of the place. This time, I was with Enrico D. of Byahilo.com, Kyle and Ph_Man from Skyscrapercity.com, and Edsil, a friend of Eric. We went to Bacolod primarily for the Panaad 2008 but our plans were a bit modified due to some unfortunate events. After a few hours of our arrival, we had lunch in a Chinese restaurant beside L’ Fisher Hotel and had dessert in Calea.

West-central Negros Road Trip – First time in Kabankalan | April 2008

Just after my Bucari trip, a few hours actually, I’m out on another trip and this time my destination is Bacolod City. My family and other relatives at my father’s side had a reunion and we stayed at my Lola’s house in Bata.

Last time I was in Negros was on September 2007 for an organizational study of Riverside Hospital with side-trip to Patag in Silay. I knew of some new developments in Bacolod and had the chance to see them myself.
