Me and whyte set out one afternoon for a food treat in two of Iloilo’s niche restaurants. We had lunch in Perri Todd’s, known for their delectable giant burgers and Nothing but Desserts, which specializes in serving sinfully sweet desserts.

Deemed by the Department of Tourism as the “Christmas Capital of Western Visayas,” the town of Pototan in Iloilo fills its sprawling plaza with a flurry of colorful lights every December, attracting thousands from all over Iloilo and nearby provinces in Panay Island. Here’s some pictures during the opening night of its “IWAG Festival of Lights” this 2009.

Pawikan Cave in Isla Gigantes Sur is one of the places that we visited during our recent trip to Carles. The atriums inside the spacious caverns created such beautiful lighting that we couldn’t resist doing a quick photoshoot. The natural spotlight and mysterious feel of the cave made such a strong effect to the pictures.

It was the start of summer and I was dying to set forth on another ultimate adventure, just as I did last year when I visited Caluya Islands in Antique. While I was on my usual rounds of the city, my friend Tara (an excellent photographer I look up to) texted me and invited me to go on a 3 day trip to Isla Gigantes Sur (South Gigantes Island) in Carles, a coastal town in the northern tip of Iloilo.

Last week a friend invited me to go for a trip to the holy grail of island destinations in Iloilo, Carles, this weekend. We will be staying at Isla de Gigantes Sur for three days and two nights. I’m hoping we can visit most of the tourist spots in the area including the Sicogon Island, the famed Boracay of the 80′s.

Some food shots of three restaurants in The Avenue, Smallville taken recently. The three restaurants include Amalfi (Italian), Mojave (Grill and Steakhouse), and Bauhinia (Filipino). All handheld and used only natural lighting. This set-up works fairly well with food photography. If the lighting is poor or if you’ve got shaky hands, better use a tripod to get crisp photos.

Time and time again, Explore Iloilo has given me so much in my life and I’m very grateful that many people are able to appreciate me because of what I do.

Bucari, located in the mountains of Leon, is a summer paradise 3 hours away from Iloilo City. Bucari greatly resembles destinations in Northern Philippines like Baguio and Banaue because of its cool climate and highland attractions such as springs, waterfalls, pine trees, rice terraces, wild flowers, high-value crops, and a breathtaking view of the verdant mountains.

The first time I’m been to the northerneastern part of Iloilo was less than two years ago. Ever since, couldn’t stop going back to explore more of its beautiful spots and to get a feel of life in the islands. Four days after our graduation, I went back to Concepcion with my friends, one of which had a graduation dinner at their house.

Spending hours under the heat of the midday sun was worth it after I was able to take these pictures of the Dinagyang Festival 2008 held during the 26th and 27th of January. While the other photographers who had SLR cameras and their long zoom lenses were able to take their stunning photographs standing in the shade (or in one location), I had to move around a bit (because of the limitations of a point a shoot with 6X zoom) so that I’d be able to take decent shots.
