For regular readers of Ambot-ah, you might have already noticed some changes in the look and feel of the blog. This is only the first step in my plans of improving Ambot-ah to a whole new level. This is in light of my plans of venturing out of my hometown, Iloilo, this year and traveling to more places around the Philippines. I’m very excited! I wonder where I’ll end up in the months to come.

Western Visayas Tourism Assembly 2009: A Parade of 12 Festivals
The Western Visayas Tourism Assembly is an annual gathering of all provinces and cities of Western Visayas geared at showcasing the tourism potential of the region. Roxas City and Capiz Province hosted the event this year held last December 4-6 . I was able to witness event with fellow bloggers Junelle, JunJunn, Eric, and Sheila. During the first day, we were treated with the unique opportunity of seeing some of the best festivals in Western Visayas. The street dance parade started from the city plaza all the way to Villareal Stadium, where they performed their spectacular 5 to 10 minute choreographed dances.
International Photography Awards 2009; Importance of Being Inspired as a blogger
While scourging through my feeds yesterday, I came across the International Photography Awards 2009. I checked it out wanting a pick me up before touching my long to-do list for my blogs. The gallery at their their website is superb! I was easily inspired by the clever concepts and degree of skill of these photographers.

Finally! Experiences at the Philippine Blog Awards 2009 – Awards Night
Now that my October travelling spree is over, I’m finally back home … back to blogging. You’ll probably notice my online activity rising because I’ve cleared up my schedule for the next month so that I can do some major work on my blogs (actually, it’s more like I wont be going anywhere because I’ve got no more money left to spend). During the first week of October, I spent a week in Manila to take some pictures for a new blog I’m developing named “Pueblo Philippines (more about this later).” While I was there, I bought a one week MRT/LRT unlimited flash pass (for P250) and visited many spots in Metro Manila. Though, the highlight (and main agenda) of my trip was actually attending the 2009 Philippine Blog Awards, in which Explore Iloilo was nominated under the Best Travel Blog category.

My Tuna Tofu Vegetable and Egg Stir Fry Recipe
I’ve never thought of myself cooking stuff, more so blogging about it, but recently I’ve been experimenting on coming up with different ways to maintain a high protein diet. My body is naturally ectomorphic (slim) and I guess I want a change by adding more weight. I’ve honestly tried to eat horrendously but to no avail, my metabolism is just too fast for the calories to get a good grip. So now, I’m trying a new strategy by muscle building instead. I’ve been reading a lot of articles online and so far and I’ve discovered that to maintain optimum muscle anabolism (growth), aside from doing muscle building exercises, I’ve got to eat around 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight. Since I’m just starting, I don’t think I’m up for protein supplements (whey) yet so I decided to get protein from whole food sources like egg whites, tuna, tofu, beef, chicken, skim milk etc… for now.
Which is why I have to plan out my meals throughout the day/week and integrate those high protein sources into my diet. One of my favorite things to do is to cook a stir fry with a bunch of those ingredients with vegetables. It is something easy to do, especially for a newbie cook like me.

Writer of Philippine Star’s The Freeman Newspaper copies off content from byahilo.com blog
These people in the traditional media will stop at nothing! First they feed off and make money out of pictures painstakingly taken by us bloggers, now they are also starting to copy/pasting content from blogs. You can read how a writer for local newspaper in Cebu has copy/pasted from Byahilo.com, a travel blog run by my friend Eric D. here: http://www.byahilo.com/2009/05/31/philippine-stars-the-freeman-newspaper-in-cebu-used-my-blog-content-without-permission/

They can juice us for now if they must but there will come a time that these newspaper will become extinct and blogs will replace their outdated and unethical methods. We’ll be on top of search engine results when that happens.
Spectrum Iloilo – A gallery of photographers in Iloilo (May 27 – June 28, 2009)

If you have time, you’re all invited to see a gallery exhibit by a couple of Ilonggo photographers in Red Steakhouse & Gallery. Spectrum Iloilo will run from May 27 to June 28, 2009. I’ll be posting 3 of my works, I think this is my first photo exhibit, ehh … I was apprehensive at first because I’ll have my stuff posted side by side with other more established photographers in Iloilo and my photos aren’t exactly as remarkable as theirs. My usual subjects are landscapes, not conceptual artsy stuff so I was thinking that my works would pale in comparison and I would spontaneously melt or combust. I agreed to join after discovering that I humans spontaneously melting or combusting might not be a possibility.
Launched Everything Boracay – Your Local Guide to Boracay
My postings here and Explore Iloilo have been sparse lately. I’ve been busy developing a new website called Everything Boracay (http://www.everythingboracay.com), which was made to help people plan their trip to Boracay. Visitors can find general information about Boracay, insider travel tips and guides, view a list of where to stay in Boracay, and even make online bookings through partner travel sites.
