Bike Tour of Boracay

Circumnavigating the island of Boracay by bicycle was an item in my wish list of things to do in Boracay during my last visit. Seems fairly doable since Boracay is just a small island and they already have a circumferential road (that I’ve only seen previously in maps). During my bike tour, I got to see the beautiful scenes on the “other side” Boracay … but … describing all the biking as a great exercise is an grave understatement (for me at least), I was not expecting that it would be such a “heavy” workout.

I scoured through white beach and only found one bike rental shop. I don’t know how that happened since white beach is usually full of these kind of things at every stop. They offered me an initial price of P1,000+ for to rent the bicycle for the whole day but I haggled it down to P700. I rented it at around 4pm and they told me that I should return it by 4pm the next day. It seemed like a good deal since bike rentals usually costs P100 / hour (for locals from what I’ve heard).

Right after I got the bike I rushed to Puka Beach, on the northern coast of Boracay and watched the sunset from there.

On the morning of the next day, I decided to take a lighter route. This time I decided to go to Bulabog Beach, approximately one kilometer from White Beach on Boracay’s eastern coast. I liked Bulabog Beach since it was much more secluded than the crowded White Beach.

Later that day I went out again to conquer Boracay’s inland roads. This area is quite hilly. It was a GREAT deal of effort to go through the whole ordeal. Actually, I think the bike that I rented wasn’t equipped for those roads … but as they they – If there’s a will there’s a way. Next time, I probably would hire a tricycle or rent an ATV. Nevertheless, the views on top of the hills were great and the verdant forest area of Boracay was a refreshing sight.

My last stop was taking a turn somewhere in Brgy. Balabag passing through the cemetery and ending up in the northernmost part of Station 1. There, I left the bike and did a short trek to Diniwid Beach passing through Mika’s path.

Cool post! I’d love to go biking around Boracay but I don’t know how to ride a bike. Yeah, it’s sad, I know. Anyway, I’m definitely going to subscribe to your blog. I love your posts! :)
