Last week me and my friends most of which I met over at flickr, went photo tripping in Antique province. We visited a few spots in Southern Antique (Anini-y, Hamtic, and San Jose) for a day trip. We first met at Molo Terminal, Iloilo City where a few van drivers were squabbling for our attention, we had to choose between a spacious new looking Mercedes Benz Van and an L300 van, which looked like it had experienced too many trips. We picked the L300 van because the driver promised to leave immediately for us. We were lucky enough because the driver was very friendly and even made a deal with us to take us to where we wanted to go until Hamtic and San Jose and then take us back to Iloilo City.

Ambot-ah is a blog about my life as a travel blogger, nurse, and freelance photographer. After my college graduation, I decided to make a living out of blogging and live out my many passions. I remember Anini-y and Hamtic. It was the place I was lost about when I was on my bicycle ride from Jaro to San Jose de Buenavista in Antique. After I passed by the mountains of San Joaquin, I saw seas and beaches and decided there must be a shortcut along coastline from that point to San Jose. Later, locals told me I’d rather take the highway. So I had to go back to the highway to proceed to Antique. I haven’t had explored Anini-y and Hamtic because I was running short of time. Based on your photographs here, the place looks like a paradise to me… I hope I can visit this place again…
Ah, cool. Grabe, it’s more than 100 km from Iloilo City to San Jose. Maybe I should also try that sometime, when I’m in the bus I’m always thinking about going down to take pictures. Yes Nogas Island is very beautiful, I wished we had more time to spent there.
love the pictures! can i repost them at my site? i am maintaining a multiply account for Poblacion, Anini-y, Antique and Nogas Island. I will post a back link to your blog =) pliz
thanks. Yes that would be great! just don’t crop out the watermark.
I wish i could go to Nogas island. crossing fingers. Nice pictures… it makes you want to visit the places shown in the pictures. :)
Sige bala, nami didto and it’s very convenient to go there. Just take the L300 to Anini-y and tell the driver to drop you off at the beach (near Siraan), talk to some locals about crossing to Nogas. They told us that the pumpboat rate is P500 round trip for the whole boat.
hopefully kapuli ko liwat iloilo. :D anyway, nadumduman ko nakakadto lang ako before sa Siraan (that was 17 years ago though)… and my cousin was even prodding us to go to the island (na Nogas gali ang ngalan). Btw, i think may typo error sa pumpboat fare, instead of PHP 500, PHP 50 ung nakadisplay. hehe.

I miss this place. Someday, I’ll revisit here again with a new and more sturdier bicycle ;)
How’s the road from Tiolas to Anini-y, and from there to Tobias Fornier? A few months ago it was horrible the first part, and”just bad” for the second part!
nice work marcos! nami gi ni imo thread kay informative for tumandok ukon pangayaw man, at least mabal an naton kon diin nami kadtuan kon magbakasyon (from broad) ukon mamasyar (ang taga iban nga lugar) dira sa panay (iloilo, antique, aklan, capiz kg guimaras).

Pakadto Siraan from where? you can ride a bus or van from Iloilo… the price is P100-P200. I have no idea about the cottage but I think they’re just cheap. There are a number of restaurants in the area, you don’t have to worry about food if you’re not planning to bring your own.

hi, i enjoy your blog immensely. kindly fill me up on our upcming iloilo 4N5D trip. i was told there isn’t much to see in iloilo. now, i’d like to make a side trip to san jose de buenavista, antique, my birthplace, for sentimental reasons. i don’t have any idea how antique looks like.
we are 3 “young” seniors travelling. is the 3 hr. trip safe? would u have the contact number of the driver u mentioned in the blog? is gaisano in antique located at the ground floor of centillion House 2000 Hotel? What is there to see/do in Antique? where can we eat good food ? We plan to stay overnight in Antique to pace out our travel. What do u think?
Thank you sooo much and pls. continue your interesting travel blogs.
i’m a pandananon….. napakalayo ng place ko sa san jose kaya mostly, sa aklan kami pumupunta. gusto ko sana makita at makapasok sa gaisano ng san jose….
