Here are some interesting websites that I’ve found and subscribed to today. Just learning so much from all these kinds of people.

Interesting finds:
- Read about Ashley Qualls, a 17 year old who started out making free myspace layouts and is now earning $70,000 per month. Her website is called Whatever Life and she now owns a similarly named magazine among other business ventures that she has developed. Due to her new career, she has bought a 2 storey 4 bedroom house and a car. She also dropped out of highschool to spend more time on her business, yeah! Who needs highschool when you’re earning $70,000 a year? She has also been offered $1.5M to sell out her website but she DECLINED.
- Discovered that Yahoo Image Search now favors pictures hosted in flickr, which is good for me because all of my pictures are hosted in flickr. I did some searches for the keyword “Iloilo and it turns out my pictures show up on the 3rd page and below. I’ll have to find out how to have them displayed on the first page.

I’ve been a
member on December 2005, that’s almost 2 years since that I’ve remained a sub-user of flickr. While my basic need to have a place to host images has been satisfied, the limitations of being able to see just the most recent 200 pictures has made it quite hard to manage my gallery.
Fortunately, someone has noticed my dilemma too and out of generosity told me that I was going get a
account as a gift. Thank You Wilnora! This will help a lot, as in.
You could just imagine the excitement I had when I was about to open my pro account for the first time. OK … I was able to open it successfully and as I opened the my gallery I found out that it contained “1,751 photos / 31,683 views“. I was shocked to find out that I’ve uploaded that many pictures of Iloilo these past few years. I was worrying about how long it would take to organize them.
At first I made an intricate classification process but after hours of getting into it, I barely organized 100 photos. So, I settled for a simpler classification system, which is to just sort them by location. More classifications will be done in the “Iloilo in Photos” photoblog. I’ve managed to finish organizing btw, you cancheck out my gallery here.
Finally, we’ll be able to see all the photos I’ve uploaded in flickr ;p
Another issue why it was important for me to get the pro account was the ability to replace the photos that I’ve uploaded. My photos have been stolen a lot and used without my permission. At least now, I can update the watermarks of the older photos.

Thank God I found this blog. It’s called Zen Habits and it’s about minimalism, which I define as a philosophy of living life will less. If you noticed in this blog, it’s quite plain and simple. I don’t consider it boring though, I picked this theme because I found beauty in it’s simplicity.
After reading some more of the posts on Zen Habits, I realized that there’s really a lot to improve upon when it comes to stripping down to the essentials and it very much applies not just in blogging but also in life. My friends would maybe not fully understand (even ridiculing) me about how I react to things (yeah, I talking about that bodyart thing and a few others) but I dont mind because I believe that “Simple questions need simple answers”, and that’s a very nice thing.
I find myself unhappy sometimes because I’m not satisfied with how I live my life, because there are issues that I just cannot deal with and they just pile up on top of each other. I believe this is because there is so much clutter that I just have to sit down and think about what I really need (to do) and what I don’t. Hopefully, this can clear my head up and I’ll be able to deal with them one by one.

It’s official I’m now a member of the Heritage Conservation Society (HCS) - Iloilo Youth Chapter. It came about during Ivan Henares‘ recent trip to Iloilo. There we’re no formal induction, were still in the process of organizing ourselves into how we want to shape the group.
Other members include: Gian Carlo Alvarez (Chairman) of Central Philippine University, Bernard Arellano of UP Visayas and me of the West Visayas State University.
I guess we were chosen to be members of the local arm of the HCS because we were already involved in the promotion of the heritage of Iloilo in the internet through numerous websites and forums. We’ve made a name for ourselves in this focused niche.
During the infancy of the Iloilo Youth Chapter, we would like to start first with the promotion of Iloilo’s heritage sites. We would like to raise the awareness of what we currently have because many of our heritage gets destroyed because people generally don’t care about them. I believe that if people learn more about our heritage then people will start knowing how important they are and therefore would be more resistant to any plans to destroy them.
Thus we’re starting a blog for this very purpose:
Explore the old world charm and the rich cultural heritage of the city and the province of Iloilo and Guimaras by visiting “Panubli-on: The Iloilo Heritage Blog”

Due to some unfortunate circumstances, it turns out I’ll have to cancel my Aklan+Boracay trip because it’ll be in the same week as my Bacolod-Silay trip. I guess I’ll just have to make the most of my trip in Negros Occidental. Continue Reading »
